Biography

Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi is a qualified pharmacist from the University of Ibadan, and is currently studying for an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology as a Commonwealth Shared Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK. He is the Director for Research and Thought Leadership at Global Health Focus, an initiative that builds critical thinkers and leaders in global health.

He serves as the Associate Editor for Sciendo’s Annal of Public Health Issues and is a member of the Youth Editorial Board for Wiley’s Journal of Public Health Challenges. He is also a student editor at International Journal of Medical Students. Yusuff has published over 100 papers in many international peer-reviewed journals and seven book chapters on various global public health issues. Yusuff has received numerous awards, grants, and scholarships from around the world, including the Kevin Molloy Fellowship and the RSTMH/NIHR grant, among others. His efforts to advance science and research in Africa were honored in 2022 with the Princess Diana Award. He is a voice, a role model, and a significant source of inspiration for many young people to get involved in academic research in Africa and around the world.

Yusuff is committed to engaging in impactful large-scale population health research that will inspire changes, foster health equity, and improve the quality and quantity of life of people in Africa and beyond.

As an early career health systems researcher whose research interests encompass pandemic preparedness and response, antimicrobial resistance, tobacco harm reduction, and social epidemiology, he is driven by a commitment to address pressing global health challenges and promote evidence-based policies and interventions within health systems.

Winning the Prestigious Princess Diana Award

Adebisi’s receipt of the Diana Award is a testament to his unwavering dedication to academia, research, and advocacy in Africa and beyond. His commitment to nurturing a passion for academic research among undergraduates and young professionals has been nothing short of inspiring. GHF’s commitment to building research capacity is noteworthy, having successfully secured over $1 million in research grants. This financial support has enabled them to generate knowledge and evidence that have been translated into tangible global health policies and practices.

Notably, GHF’s influence extends far and wide, with a presence in more than 30 countries. Their dedication to sharing knowledge is evident in the impressive publication of over 200 research papers. As an institution, GHF has proudly graduated over 5,000 students and young professionals from its programs, leaving an indelible mark on the global health landscape.
